Send Text Message for package notification txt sms

If your customer would like to receive a text message instead of an email, or in addition to an email here is how to do it:

First, Ask the package recipient their cell/mobile number AND their provider name (Verizon,AT&T, Sprint, etc)

Then, with the package recipient in front of you or on the phone, go into the email field on the customer “Account Info” section and add the phone number that they wish to have MDD send a Text Message to using the following format based on their Phone provider:

Alltel: 10digitphonenumber@message.alltel.com
AT&T: 10digitphonenumber@txt.att.net
Boost Mobile: 10digitphonenumber@myboostmobile.com
CellularOne: 10digitphonenumber@mobile.celloneusa.com
Cingular: 10digitphonenumber@cingularme.com
Cricket: 10digitphonenumber@mms.mycricket.com
MetroPCS: 10digitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
Nextel: 10digitphonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
Omnipoint: 10digitphonenumber@omnipointpcs.com
Qwest: 10digitphonenumber@qwestmp.com
Sprint: 10digitphonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile: 10digitphonenumber@tmomail.net
US Cellular: 10digitphonenumber@email.uscc.net
Verizon: 10digitphonenumber@vtext.com
Virgin Mobile: 10digitphonenumber@vmobl.com

Since the MDD system will send to as many email addresses as are entered in the email field, you may add this "Text address" before or after their regular email address and they will receive both a text AND an email.

Don’t forget that the recipiants of these text messages may be charged by their service provider for this message.

ALWAYS check with the customer to make sure they want this type of notification.

I was able to set up the text messaging syntax for most of my mailbox holders who just receive messages via text vs email. I have 2 cell phone carriers that are not on your list: Tracphone, and MetroPCS. Could you add these two providers to your reference list?

    Thanks!

    Just added MetroPCS

Trac phone is a bit trickier. Here is a link that should give you the info you need, but I have no way of testing it yet. Let me know how it works and I’ll make it a permanent part of the list.
